How Did Timm Do That?
In early 2007, Timm's manager, Jeff Kushner, suggested that we incorporate a feature into the website called "how did Timm do that". After batting it back and forth for several months, Timm went into The Barn and shot a test video. The results were pretty good, and he decided to move forward with the idea as soon as possible.
After a little bit of editing, the initial "test" video is now available for you to check out. We're pretty excited about the possibilities of this new feature. Timm has plans to shoot segments covering songs from his work with several artists, including Nils Lofgren, Danny Gatton, and Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. If you have any suggestions as to music he should cover in this series, send an e-mail by clicking here.
The opening segment features one of Timm's most popular drum parts - "Strange Dreams" from Frank Marino's "Juggernaut" album. If you aren't familiar with this track (or if you need to refresh your memory), you'll find the complete studio recording on the Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush page in the Music section There's also a brief clip from the "Double Live" version of the tune.
Shot at The Barn in 2007, the audio was recorded using the camera's mic and slightly tweaked in editing, unlike the DVD lessons, which are recorded through the studio's console. The video file has been encoded to Flash and .wmv formats - small enough to make downloading easy, large enough to still look pretty good. Download time will vary from :30 to 10:00 depending on your connection speed.
